In Chapter 11, a magnificent Jewelled Stūpa (宝塔) suddenly emerges from the earth and suspends itself in midair before the assembly. From within the stūpa, a voice praises Śākyamuni Buddha for teaching the Lotus Sutra, declaring that everything he has expounded is true. The Buddha explains that the stūpa belongs to Many Treasures Tathāgata (多宝如来), a Buddha from the distant past who vowed that his stūpa would appear wherever the Lotus Sutra is preached, to bear witness to its truth. The stūpa opens, and Śākyamuni Buddha sits beside Many Treasures Buddha within it. The Buddha then summons the emanation Buddhas from the ten directions, and the entire cosmos is restructured to accommodate this unprecedented assembly.
