Even if the sutra passes through fifty people in this way, the merit of the fiftieth person’s joyful acceptance is still incalculable and far exceeds that of someone who practices vast material generosity for countless eons. Through this teaching, the Buddha emphasizes that joyful acceptance itself is a powerful and authentic engagement with the Dharma.
